For more information or to enroll in Gateways contact us at gatewaysinfo@selfdesign.org
Friday May 11th, 7pm at the Nelson Learning Centre; Gateways Learners present: Alice in Wonderland, followed by a Community Cafe where Learners will share highlights of their learning year in video, images and writing.
SelfDesign Gateways has been developed specifically to help learners transition and evolve from their early years of learning to the opportunities and challenges of high school and beyond.
All learners ages 13 and 14 registered with SelfDesign are automatically considered Gateways learners, whether they are at a distance (using our online environment for connection with other learners and for information about activities and trips) or they are regularly attending one of our learning centers or circles.
Gateways learners have the opportunity to benefit from the special attention and focus their consultants or mentors place on developing increased skills for writing their own weekly observations and becoming more self-directed in their learning.
Our Gateways goal is that learners will not only feel anticipation for their high school experience to come, but that they will know lots more about our own SelfDesign High by the time they have completed their grade 9 year. SDH classes, whether online or in-person, are a terrific option for our kids, and the choices are steadily increasing. Gateways offers many opportunities for connection and community; furthermore, all Gateways learners are invited to participate in up to 3 outdoor education field trips that will foster transformative learning experiences. No two learners are the same, and we are ready to meet you exactly where you are on your learning path, so get ready for the Gateways adventure!
"...(Gateways) was really great and it made my learning very easy this way because it was up to the learner to decide what they wanted to do throughout the year and then they would figure out how they wanted to do it and go for it.I like that we've done more hands on learning'cause for me i think that really makes learning fun and more interesting." - Saida For more information or to enroll in Gateways, contact us at gatewaysinfo@selfdesign.org
