Have you heard about The YES Camp?
The YES camp is a co-operative leadership camp that provides week long retreats for youth from all over BC, and is supported by BC’s Co-ops and Credit Unions.
Skills training is offered for 14-17 year-olds in the areas of self-awareness, co-operation, communication, global awareness, environmental sustainability and leadership. Participants take part in the creation of a strong community of support, respect and growth in the summer camp. Not only is there a chance to learn and grow, it’s also tons of fun! From canoeing and hiking, to arts and crafts, the YES camp has many options for fun activities each day.
The YES is a life-changing experience and an excellent opportunity to learn new skills, make new friends and spend a week having fun!
The cost of the program is $625.00, and the Nelson and District Credit Union offers full sponsorship for 6 local participants (3 from Nelson and area, 2 from Rossland, and 1 from the Eastshore of Kootenay Lake).
The camps take place at Cowichan Lake on Vancouver Island. Transportation for campers from the Kootenays is provided from Kelowna.
There is still space available for the August 15-21 and August 22-28 sessions for 14-15-year-olds, and the July 11-17 2nd-level session for 16 and 17 year-olds.
Please contact Tom Atkins, at the Nelson and District Credit Union, tatkins@nelsoncu.ca, for more information on sponsorship, or visit http://www.zippitydodog.com/news/28
